Questions on Landing

Hello all,

We are in the final stages of getting our PR stamped in our passport. We have now been asked to provide our passports to stamp our PR. I have the following questions. Appreciate if anyone can answer them:

1. The letter from CIC states that "Your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) Form(s) will be valid for your initial entry to Canada until 2017/02/14.." However, in the same letter under Section 2 of Visa validity it states that "Your permanent resident visa will expire one year after the date of your medical examinations. "

Our medicals have already expired. So I would like to confirm which of the above is true.

2. What are the expectations for landing? Is it mandatory for primary and supporting applicants do the landing to successfully receive the PR card or is it sufficient for only the primary applicant to do the landing.

Thanks in advance.

1. So, have you already received your COPR? When did you do your medicals?

2. The primary applicant must land first. Dependents can land later but must land before the CORP expires. PR cards will only be issued to those that have successfully landed.

I did my medicals in Feb 2015. However, our first application was rejected and now we have received a request for COPR for our second application. So our medicals have expired.

Well, it seems you are lucky as CIC do not require you or your family to get another medical done.

If you receive a COPR with an expiry date of 2017/02/14, then that's what matters because that is what the immigration officer will look at.

Normally, COPR and medical expiry date are identical but it seems like you were given an exemption.
