Hi there! This message is for Chitokolo :D

I am a Canadian sponsoring my Zambian husband. We met in Zambia, got married in Canada and moved back to Zambia where we have been living and working together for over a year.

I am about ready to send in my paperwork and just came across this forum, now I am panicking abit!

I am confused about what people refer to as inland/outland application. I assume because I am applying from Zambia, that I would be outland? Correct? Do I still send the entire application to Ontario?

Also, I'm confused about the Option C printout. My mom sent me my Notice of Assessment, but from what i can tell that is not good enough. What did you use? It looks like I have to put off mailing my application till I get this printout.

Also, because I met my husband while living in Zambia and we are currently living together, I dont have things like airline tickets or phone Bills....what do I send as proof of relationship? We see eachother every day....we work together, we live together....what more would they want?
Also, do you know if its possible for him to get a visitor visa while this is being processed. I booked our airfare home for Aug 3 standing on faith that it will all come together....but just in case I don't want to be seperated from him.

I look forward to any advice you can give me.

Thanks in advance.
Sandra

Hello Sandra,

You are applying outland forsure, but the first step will be to submit the CPC-M in Ontario. This is the first step where you will approved as a sponsor. Then the application will be forwarded to the Federal visa office in Pretoria.

Option C print out is not a requirement for Canadian citizens living outside of Canada. You can provide the last NOA you had in Canada - a letter of reference from your current employer - 3-4 pay recent pay stubs and a written statement to explain that you have been residing in Zambia for the last year and therefore cannot provide a 2008 or 9 Option C printout.

Make sure that you have included proof that you are planning to return to Canada upon approval of your husband's PR approval. This can be emails with friends/family talking about wanting to return to Canada with him - print outs of houses/apartments you have been looking at in the area you plan to reside - job postings which would be relevent to you and your spouse in the area you plan to reside in Canada etc.

As for proof of your relationship - focus on photographs together with friends, family - you don't have to include 1000 photos but try to pick a couple from each trip made together - the wedding.reception - with family - casual etc.; also 3-4 letters from friends and family on both sides stating how long they have known you and your husband and attesting to the genuine relationship you have together (grandparents/parents/aunts/uncles/best friends/mutual friends); if you have a joint bank account, beneficiary information listing eachother, utility bills under both names etc.

Your husband can apply for a visitor visa, although its a toss up on how the immigration officer will decide. I suggest reviewing the following about visitor visas, and ensuring you can provide as many ties back to Zambia as possible from him so they do not doubt that he will overstay his visit(letter from work stating he has requested vacation time but is expected to return; house deed or rental agreements; a return ticket if possible; etc etc.).
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//information/applications/visa.asp

There is also an alternative option to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa - Family Class. You would have to have proof that you already submitted the application to sponsor your husband before applying. Although this is something I do not know much about but maybe someone else reading the thread can enlighten us all about this process.

Hope this helps!

Wow, you are a wealth of information. Here are some more questions for you:

I'm still concerned about this Option C printout because the organization I work for is Canadian and so I still get paid on the Canadian side, therefore, I believe that I would need the Option C printout. Correct?

Secondly, we manage an orphanage here in Zambia and we live on site, so we don't pay rent or have mortgage or anything like that. However, our employers have done a letter of reference saying we are married and live on site, do you think that will suffice?

Thirdly, upon our return to Canada we will be working for my parents business. We have job offer letters from my dad stating he wants to train us in the family business, therefore we have guaranteed jobs.....I think that shows proof our our planned return right?

We have lots of pictures with both our families and both our Canadian and Zambian wedding. I guess I will just work on letters from friends and family.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi -

as for the Option C Printout, I did it this way - since I live in Bolivia but filed my taxes last year in Canada... I just called (using skype, it was free) the number listed for the Option C printout and ordered it. It was very easy. I asked them to send it to my family's house in Toronto because the mail system here is not very reliable...then my mom sent it down to me via courier to include it in my application.

don't forget to include things about your wedding - receipts, emails from planning, the prorgam, and of course pictures.

definitely you want to include as much as possible about plans to return to Canada. the letter for work is great, then you can write your own letter to explain your intentions - where you will stay, intentions of leaving your current job, things like that...

just remember, be as comprehensive as possible so that the person reading the application won't have any doubts and clearly understand your situation.

hope that helps somewhat!
