Questions at immigration for an international student

Hi Guys,

I am an international student travelling to Canada for the first time in April 2021.

I had applied for a student visa via NON-SDS procedure and already have my student visa approved. I have an educational loan from a NBFC which is going to cover the cost of my tuition. However, the loan terms state that I must produce a copy of my study permit in order for them to proceed with the disbursement.

Since the study permit is issued to a student upon their arrival in Canada, I won't be able to pay my tuition fees until I reach there. Will this create a problem at Toronto airport immigration desk? Or should I push my loan provider to pay the fees for atleast 1 term before my arrival in Canada?

Please note that I have already paid my GIC, have a loan approval letter and have bank statements of me and my sponsors (including affidavits of support) exceeding twice the amount of overall tuition. Also, my quarantine locations have been booked. It is just because of the loan terms that I have not been able to pay the fees from my home country.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.

This doesn't make much sense to me. I got a study loan via a NBFC as well (India). I went the SDS route, however, so I paid one year tuition ahead. But the NBFC was fine with disbursing the funds when I submitted the LoA and email from the university detailing the fee structure. They did not ask me for study permit. I think it is better you pay at least 1 term tuition before landing. That's just my opinion.

Hi Ram,

I got it from MPower Financing.
Anyways, I am also thinking about paying the tuition for 1 term.
