Questions about Work permit for international students

Hello,
I am currently enrolled in IT security program (one year graduation certificate) in a college in ontario. This program gonna end by april 2018. and i have applied for another program (businness management) in the same college for may intake. My second program is going to complete by december 2018.I have few questions here.
1. As my first program is in IT department and the other is in Business, does it effect my work permit. i heard that if we took two different courses in different fields, it gonna effect work permit.
2. my first program finishes by april 2018. can i start taking another program in may 2018 or should i give a break and start in september 2018.
will i get 3 year work permit even if i start my next program in may 2018.
please help me out...

Hi,

1. Different programs doesn't affect your Work permit. As long as they're full-time programs.

2. You can start the next program immediately. Break is not necessary. To be eligible for 3 years of work permit, you must have finished 4 semesters(2 yrs in continuous full time studies). This means, in your second program, you must be enrolled as a full time student for 2 semesters. Similar for your first program, 2 semesters as a full-time student.

I would advise to take the second course immediately after graduating from your first.

Also you can't work between the end of the 1st course and the beginning of the second which sounds like a week or two.
