Here are a few that we are uncertain of

We will send it there by mail, how will be pay fees? do we get an email?
How will we know it arrived there?
Can i add my open work permit application in the same envelope or no?
do i need a visa extension if i apply for an OWP?
when will we get first stage approval (if everything goes as planned)
when will i be eligible for health care?
how old can my police record be? mine is 4 months old will that be sufficient?
how much does an medical examination cost and when will i have to do that one?

1. you have to pay fees online on CIC website first then print out the receipt . Send with your app.
2. you should send it with registered mail (tracking no. ) so you know when CIC receive your application (keep the receipt as a proof of you sent off your app.)
3. yes, send it together - you can put each app on separate envelope and put in one big envelop.
4. you do not need to extend your visitor visa (status) if you have OWP .
5. 17 months according to CIC. till
6. depends on the province where you are (think you are eligible for health insurance with OWP)
7. police cet. is usually good for 6 month, if you send it before expired, it should be fine.
8. Mine costed around CAD 250 in MB, and you can do before you send off your app (when you are ready to send) : medical only good for a year.
