Hi All

i have some questions

i came to canada for study purpose when i was 16 years old

7 years After, i am 23 right now. Do i have to do the Police certificates and Fingerprint in my home country and in Canada ??

During this 7 years, i just went to my home country 3 times, it was less than 6 month for each..

One more question for my spouse, she is in Canada right now.

i got the post grad work permit last years. My spouse had a 3 year permit as well, because she was under my name..

Does she need to do the Police certificates and Fingerprint in her home country and in Canada ??

Her situation: She had a holiday working permit in 2010 Sep, she went back to home town in 2011 Sep, she came back to canada in 2012 June. when i applied the work permit, she was under my name. She got the work permit for 3 year in 2012 Oct..

I checked on Cic website

When applying for police certificates, you should include for each person:

A completed Request for Police Certificates/Clearances and Authorization for Release of Information form (see Appendix A). Include photocopies for each applicant.

A set of fingerprints, if required by the authority of the country. Your local police or RCMP may be able to tell you where you can get fingerprints done. Take the Fingerprint Request Letter and your photo identification (passport, travel document, etc.) with you when you go to get fingerprints taken. You may have to pay a fee.

Your complete mailing address (certificates will be sent directly to you).

So i just submit the fingerprint request letter to our local police, and then get the fingerprint.

After that, i submit the Request for Police Certificates/Clearances and Authorization for Release of Information to my home country

Thanks

Sorry but you didn't mention your CEC status.

As far as I know not every country's Police Dept issue the police clearance cert without the official request from CIC. In my case my home country's police dept cannot issue me one until CIC send me a additional doc request.

From your long post I see only you and your partner are now both eligible to work in Canada; but without knowing your CEC status we don't know what advice we should provide re your concern.

i have some questions - i came to canada for study purpose when i was 16 years old - 7 years After, i am 23 right now. Do i have to do the Police certificates and Fingerprint in my home country and in Canada ??

Please read the instructions for police clearances. First, It says every country EXCEPT CANADA. (CIC automatically conducts name-based checks of all applicants with the RCMP; most come back clear. You would only have to do a finger-print based RCMP clearance if CIC later requests it.)

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp

Second, it depends on what country (or countries) you have lived in - each country has its own process for issuing police clearances. Some require finger prints, some do not. You have to read the instructions for each specific country. No one here can help you unless you identify the country.

One more question for my spouse, she is in Canada right now.
Does she need to do the Police certificates and Fingerprint in her home country

Third - yes, your spouse is subject to the same rules, clearances are required for you (main applicant), spouse, and any dependents over the age of 18. What is required depends on which country or countries...

During this 7 years, i just went to my home country 3 times, it was less than 6 month for each..

As for your situation - technically, according to the rules, you would not have to provide any police clearance. In practice, CIC will usually request a police clearance for your home country, even if you haven't lived there since before the age of 18. So it is up to you - you can wait and see if CIC requests it, or you can go ahead and get it anyway.

I checked on Cic website

The website ALSO says you have to check the country-specific requirements on how to get a police clearance for each country - the requirements may be more or less than the general description. Again, we can't really provide more help unless you tell us which country...

so

for my wife, she has to complete the (Fingerprint letter @ Cic website) before she gets the fingerprint at local police ?

After she gets the fingerprint, she need to submit the (Request for Police Certificates/Clearances and Authorization for Release of Information @ Cic website) to her home country (Hong kong), right ??

Do i have to wait her clearance back before i submit the CEC Document ? or they will send the clearance directly to immigration office ??

thanks Smiley
