Hello there!
My husband and I are going to be sending in our application for him to sponsor me, my permanent residence application, and the open work permit (through the pilot program) this month. I am a US Citizen living with him in Canada under vacation/visitor visa for now. I have some questions first, if we leave Canada while the applications are processing is that ok to do? We might want to go back to the states once or twice to visit my family and friends but actually LIVE in Canada.
Second, my visitor visa is only good for 6 months, so what do I do if that ends and I haven't gotten my work permit yet? Does the work permit give me permission to temporarily live here as well as work? I see the processing times for work permits are about 3 months so hopefully this won't be an issue, if the work permit will be all i need until the sponsorship & permanent residence application go through. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't have to renew some sort of temp residence visa since US Citizens don't need the travel authorization and all that.
Thanks in advance folks.
