I am currently hosting a friend from France. She just received a rejection of her application to extend her visitor stay because she hadn't provided proof of entry into Canada (there was/is some confusion regarding applying online versus by mail, but that's another post.)
If she applies again for an extension, I understand she will have an "implied status" until a decision is made. Given that the current wait for mailed applications is 117 days, I have a couple of questions. What is the chance they will make a decision before 117 days (i.e. can she reasonably count on staying, say, 100 days past the mailing date?)
Secondly, if the application for extension is rejected, how quickly afterwards does she have to leave Canada.?Practically speaking, she will have to modify her return ticket, and I wonder how much flexibility she will have with her return date.
Thanks,
