Hi there,

My wife lives with me currently in Canada with an PGWP and a valid visa until 2019 Sep. We are in the progress of completing the application forms for spousal sponsorship. But we are frustrated whether to choose in Canada or out of Canada. We are considering out of Canada because we do not want to be forced to stay in Canada for the whole year. (We have Travel plans for late 2017) We are concerned that she wouldn't be able to get back into Canada after the travel in late 2017. or causing any delays or problems to our applications because she has left Canada for travel.

Also, would it be a problem if she remains unemployed under PGWP?

Please help and advise.

You are not banned from leaving Canada (for short trips) if you file inland. The restriction is that you may not leave long-term, and the risk is that if you leave and are not allowed back in for any reason, your application will be deemed abandoned.

Outland apps avoid both of those, and are normally quicker (depends where in the world your wife is from).

She does not need to be employed. The requirement there is that you, her sponsor, may not be on welfare, or bankrupt.
