I received a mail like this from one of my friends:
Quote:
I know you are extremely busy now for your last moment preparations. I am still in Saudi and waiting for my clearance papers from here.
Before, I wanted to land together with my family. But recently, I have changed my plan and wish to land alone. As we don't have any friend or relative who can help us in initial days of landing, so I want to go ahead and prepare house etc for my family.
I want to travel directly from Saudi to Canda. As I have to show around CA$20.500 (4 family members), Can I take US$12,000 cash with me? This is all I have with me right now. And I can't arrange more, because I already sent all my salary to Bangladesh (it was not my plan before to fly from here).
...
We showed more than CA$200,000 during document updation. I have copy of some of those bank statements, but not all. Also I don't have current balance of those accounts. So in the port of entry... if I submit copy of those old statements (8-10 months old) and they may be around CA$100,000 ... shall the officer accept me @ CANADA or shall ask for recent ... original ....statement of whole (CA$200,000)?
...
Now .. worth statement at the port of entry is my ONLY CONCERN. Need your valuable opinion.
Take care,

My reply was as follows:
First of all is it mandetory to show the uptodated worth statement at the port of entry?
I do not think so.
I have never heard of any such things to be showed at the time of landing.
Only you have to take the required amount of fund with you (for 4 persons $ 20500).
The Canada immigration and CBSA will ask about the fund you are carrying. It has been advised that you should not lie in front of them or pretend that you have the required fund, whereas you do not have actually.(although I have heard that they only ask, do not physically count the coins ever).
But in your case since you are landing alone I think $12000 is sufficient and I think the border people will accept it.You have logic against that. You will say that rest of the fund will be brought in by your hubby when he lands.
Am I correct?
