Costaudjoe,

Yes I just mentioned the "outland" in case it made a difference in the forms I chose. So from what you just told me - sorry I just want to make sure, I fill the part 1 / part 2 forms , send them to Missaussauga and wait for the approval letter from CIC, once I get the approval (AKA Quebec Selection Cert. right?) I fill out the forms at the link you provided and I wait?

I must be real dumb  if I have spent 5 mths reading and did not get anything through my skull and I just understood everything now in 10 min.. ;D ::)

I admit Quebec makes things complicated.

So yes, you fill out Part 1 and Part 2 (be sure to choose the outland forms). Send them to Mississauga. Wait to be approved as a sponsor. You will get a letter by email and quite possibly by regular mail. Fill out the Quebec forms and include the letter that the sponsor was approved. You will have the additional burden of proving that you will settle in Quebec (I live here so I had to give a hydro bill). Quebec will approve you and send the CSQ. After which, your file will follow the same timeline as everyone else in the same office as you (not sure which office it would be for Greece).

costaudjoe, THANK YOU! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I wont have any problem regarding settling in Quebec I'll be in Montreal by May 20th and I am a Canadian citizen just that i've been away for a while. - The office for Greece/ Albania (for my partner) is Italy and so I checked that's 14mths as of today. I am just wondering, since the Medical is Valid for 12mths and the Police reports are for 3mths, how does that affect an application that has 14 mths waiting time? Is it better NOT to have them done and sent with initial application?

From what I have read on these forums, people recommend not sending them separately but rather doing them just before you send in the whole package. Apparently, it boils down to when the VO jumps into the application. You may be called upon to submit them again.

Ok, then that it is then, I will sit down tomorrow and fill out EVERYTHING, gather proof etc. So it will all be ready .

I have 2 more questions if you don't mind: ::)

1. There is a form for representative, should my partner have me as a rep? (his english is not too good and I am not sure if and what will be mailed to him in albania -whilst I will be in Mtl then)is it a good idea to have me appointed how is that useful?

2. Letters from family members/ friends acknowledging our relationship - should they be notarized is it a big deal if they are not? ( I think I should supply some letters since the majority of my proof is 7yrs of photos, travel tickets from our trips, online communication and phone proof communication)

Thank u very MUCH again I was about to have a breakdown, I've been at this non stop since 10am today and it's 5am now :-X :p

Question 1 is in reference to a third party who would represent you (an immigration lawyer or service).

Question 2 I had letters notarized from family members and friends since we were common law. Anyone can write up a letter. When you get them to notarize the letters the person swears it is them and that the content is true. If you are notarizing in Montreal, I can let you know how to do it on the cheap.

Costaudjoe,

Q1: if you check the form, a rep can be either a lawyer etc (with payment) or a Friend/relative(no payment), I asked if this would be useful that he appoint me so that we can make sure all communication is sent to me, this is why I wanted to know what the Rep consists of exactly.

Q2: We also are common-law, i see the letters are submitted by his side / application, can I also submit on my part? I am not sure if I will have them notarized here there or both places, since people who know us are in Greece, except my father who is the only one in Canada. I will have to research a bit more on that.. ::)

I can't really say whether there are advantages or not to having a representative. My partner sends me every message she gets plus I have access to follow the file on the CIC website.

You can definitely have family and friends on your side give letters attesting to the veracity of your relationship. That price is crazy!! In Montreal, I paid $5 per letter. :)

5$    wow, i wonder if with another 5$ i could get people to write me letters hahahha, Like I said only my father knows both of us (has met him) in Canada so that would only make one letter ::) I guess I will have to dish out 50euros here, unless I can check if lawyers here can "notarize" a letter? Is that acceptable for the application or does it HAVE to be a notary?

Also just to add to the complexity, the letters need to be written in or translated to English or French.

Isn't there an equivalent of a commissioner of oaths in Greece?

In Montreal, if I go to a notary I would probably pay something like $40, but a commissioner of oaths is much less expensive.

Good Question, I really wonder if we have a "commissioner of oaths" here lol, I'm gonna have to Google the term and see what comes up in Greek, Yeah for the letters I can draft them myself and have my "witnesses" sign thats not an issue, the 50euros is eating me up :p

Ya that's steep. In Seoul we paid $30cdn per letter which included translating and notarizing.

In Montreal, you can go to any Access-Montreal office and they will do it for $5 per signature. I know my sister in Calgary paid $20 since the notary said the letter was already written up. Maybe you could try to negotiate the price down since they are just certifying and not writing up any documents.

True, I will ask a lawyer I know and see if she is "authorized" , let me give you an idea :p a Crest toothpaste here costs almost 4 euros, minimum wage is like 500 euros (MONTH) , you cannot find a place to rent for less that 200 euros(thats ONE room and a WC) and a kilo of ground beef (no such thing as lean by the way :p ) is 8-9 euros. So, with that kind of salary you really cringe at giving 50euros, plus I am unemployed now hahaha

Good luck with sorting all that out. You have a long road ahead of you.

Cheers!
