Hello,
I am an international student currently studying in the UK and am planning to do my postgraduate study in Canada.
I have looked at the basic requirements for study permit, however I have 2 questions:
I was wondering how much fund I need to have in my bank statement and for how long it should be in my account?
Also want to know if my spouse is able to work in Canada with dependent visa.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
All the best

Hi Hello

For the duration of bank statement ,its not important to show savings for a fixed period.Either you have 4 months saving in you account or if the amount is transferred to your account even one day before applying you should prove it(e.g showing car sale docs if you filled the account by selling your car etc.)

You need to show 1st year tuition and living cost (10,000$/anum) for the whole course's duration.

hope this helps

Great thanks
If i get scholarship which cover the uni tution fee and also the living expenses and it is guranteed, do u think i would still need to produce a statement showing that I have the sufficeint fund to support my self?
I guess no if university gives me some sort of letter that explains that I am fully covered for the tution fee.

Thanks

yes, your spouse can work there if he/she gets a TRV. for this you will have to prove that you have funds to support him/her. as per the CIC site, its CAD 4000.

All the best

About your funds I suppose, it will suffice to show a letter from the university that your fees and living expenses is covered by the University. But showing extra funds in your account for a period of time will strengthen your case.

For your spouse, she will have to show funds for herself as I mentioned earlier... CAD 4K and other stuff to prove ties to the home country. thats important.
