Hi ,

I have a question I am a Canadian citizen and got a job outside of Canada , my parents I have sponsored here and can’t leave them alone for 2 years till they get the minimum to be able to renew?
What are my options ?
I heard because I am citizen if they move with me it can still count?
Any help

This rule only applies to spouses and minor children. So no, accompanying you will not count towards their residency requirement. Your parents must live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 years to meet the residency requirement to retain PR.

Options are as follows:
- If keeping PR is the priority, your parents need to make sure they live in Canada for 2 out of every 5 rolling years.
- If being with you is the priority, then they need to accept the fact that they will be putting their PR status at risk.
