Question regarding PNP expiry and dependant work permit of Provincial Nominee

Hello all. I am kind of puzzled at my situation. My PNP certificate is expiring on May 30th and I haven't yet applied for my PR as my wife has not received her work permit from the Canadian embassy in New Delhi. It has been over 3 months since we applied for her work permit as a dependent of the Provincial nominee and we have received no answer from them yet. I looked into CIC's website and it says she is clearly eligible for a work permit, being the dependent of the Provincial nominee. A letter too was issued to her by my PNP officer which she submitted along with other documents. I tried to contact my PNP officer, but it seems he is out of office. I tried to contact the Canadian embassy in Delhi via E:mail as I thought I was eligible for a reply since the processing time has exceeded the normal processing times. But still no reply on her file. It has become a little frustrating and I do not know what steps should I take to ensure that I submit my PR application along with my wife's on time, but I don't think that is possible now. It seems like the Canadian embassy in Delhi is quite fast with responding to applications, and on their website they say that it usually takes 20 Business days to process an application i:e one month and it has been over 3 months and still no reply on her file, no answer on my queries. Can someone suggest what I should do or what needs to be done. Any suggestion or advise would be great in this case. Thanks in advance.

Why do you have to wait for the outcome of your wife’s application before you submit PR? The two are not associated and do not affect each other as they are 2 different applications being processed by 2 offices. It is more important to send in your PR application before the expiry because you will go through a whole lot of headache to reapply for PNP certificate extension, let alone CIC may return you application due to incompleteness.

I strongly recommend you to apply for PR asap, focus on the more important thing first. I believe your wife work permit will still be processed without any delay but nobody can’t guarantee the outcome and it has nothing to do with lodging PR application.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I had a call from my PNP officer and he has told me to apply asap. I will be filing for my PR next week hopefully. My Nomination expires on May 30th so I believe if I send my application package by May 20th I will still be good ? Right ?

Yes you will be fine.
Make sure you check your application throughoutly and carefully before sending it off. If anything filled out incorrectly or missing, your package will be returned and a resubmission will likely be impossible with an expired nomination. You are in a tight deadline now.

Common Missing docs:

Police Certificate for you and your wife if you lived in more than six months in any country
Make sure you have birth certificate in English
If you require IELTS, make sure you have GT one

Hope that helps..

My wife is not here yet and we are still waiting on her work permit. The document checklist does not include Police certificate for either of us. We have not lived in any other country other than the country of our origin and Canada. I think we should be fine there. But thanks for pointing that out. There's always something missing. They don't ask for additional papers, they just send you back the whole package of something is missing. Thanks again, any other input or reminder will be great.
