I haven't seen this question asked on here. Ok...I just married my wife in Ukraine after being in a relationship with her these past 3 years...yes we have all the proofs of thousands of photos, emails, social media, etc. That's not my concern. My biggest concern is being status Indian. On the application form, you are asked to put Canadian citizen and there's a check mark box for status Indian. Ok...fair enough. But I don't see a box for Asian, African American , etc there. Back in the day when applying for work there were companies that promoted equal employment opportunity...I was thinking...right on...I have the qualifications to work here and the money's good. I'll just check off the status Indian box...well...I never got the job. Hahaha...ohhh it's ok...it's just the way things are. Then I started checking off Caucasian and guess what...I got the job...so I'm thinking that the status Indian box is something to not want to check off because what's the reason to check the box off...does it give me special advantages or does it instantly screw me over...I'm betting it's the latter. I've never grown up on a reserve nor have I been on social assistance and I'm college educated and do pipefitting.

Is their anyone on here that is status Indian that has gone through immigration and had good success...if it's anything like going over the American border and not having to use a passport and just my status card...things get crazy but they eventually let me through... I'm just looking for advice. Do I have to check that box off or can I just put the Canadian citizen and leave it blank. Thank you for your help.
