Question regarding expired Post Graduate Work Permit

Hi all, I was hoping to get some clarification regarding what I need to do in order to return to Canada to work.
I was an international student in Canada for 3 years and after completing my degree, I applied and received a Canadian Temporary Work Permit for 3 years.

I spent two of those years residing and working in Canada, before deciding to return home to Barbados, leaving more than an additional year on my work permit before it would expire. My permit finally expired in September, 2012, despite I had not been living in Canada for the last 16 months prior.

Unfortunately my working options here are limited and I am again interested in returning to Canada to work if possible, but I am not sure what process I have to go through. When I was studying in Canada, my visa application was mostly taken care of by our international student department. I have been on multiple sites trying to find out what steps I have to take in order to re-apply. I have seen a lot of information regarding extending your visas if you are already a resident living in Canada, temporary resident visas, multiple entry visas, but nothing about re-applying for a work permit after it has expired and no longer being a resident of Canada.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you would like to work in Canada again, you will first need to find an employer who is willing to hire you. That employer will then need to obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion (LMO). More information on LMOs can be found here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp

Once you have a job offer and approved LMO from an employer, you can then apply for a work permit.

Unfortunately the post graduate work permit you had cannot be extended or renewed.

Thank you for your response scylla. While it was not the answer I was hoping for, this is very helpful information.
