Hi all,

It's been almost a year that the sponsorship application for my wife is 'in process' @ Buffalo, NY visa office. I have learnet that after 1 year, the medical exam result as well as the police certificate will expire, and the person being sponsored (in my case my wife) needs to re-do the medical exam as well as the police certificate again.

- If my assumption is correct, can some one please let me know what's the procedure of re-taking the exam and re-doing the police security clearance?

- Should I just download the proper forms and do it on my own after 1 year? or will I receive a notice from the visa office (Buffalo) to re-do them? I just want ot be pro-active and get everything in-order, since I have already waited 1 year, almost.

- Second, is it normal for an application (in the U.S.) to be 'In Process' for a year or more? should I be concerned?

Please advise on these concerns. I will really appreciate your assistance and help.

Thanks and regards,

Toledo.

What are average processing times for this Visa post? If you have exceeded these times, you might want to contact the office and/or your MP to inquire about the delay. Also, it varies from post to post in that if it is necessary to redo medicals, they will often give you a special form that the applicant must take with them to the doctor. For others you can just use the form from the internet. I don't know about Buffalo but you should check. If they want your wife to redo anything, they will tell you.

The average processing time is that about 80% of the cases are finalized within 9 months, so in my case it's reaching 10th month by the end of May '09.

I was also thinking to wait on re-doing the medical exams. But, how about re-doing the police certificate? Since it takes like a couple of months to get the result back from the FBI. And it doesn't cost much, either.

What's your take on that?
