Hi,

Question regarding the Declaration from Non-Accompanying Parent/Guardian for Minors Immigrating to Canada" form.

They are asking for a "photocopy of a valid and legible identity document".

Would a Florida State driver's license be enough for that?

I've heard that for USA citizens, you do not need to provide an identity document, only your passport. But the information I know is for IMM008, so perhaps for this particular form you do need to provide one. As far as I know, a driver's license should suffice.

Yes, a DL meets the requirement. Make sure to copy both the back and front and that the signature is very clear.

My husband's ex in Florida was able to get the main document notarized, but the notary would not notarize her drivers license.

Does anyone know if this will be enough?

The DL copy does not need to be notarized.

I've emailed the CIC with the attachments, and a note that the originals will follow by courier (when we get them from Florida) but I don't know if they'll go ahead and keep working on my step-sons file without the originals. I figured it was worth a shot!
