Hello everyone,

I just received an email saying that my interest to sponsor form has been selected and that I need to submit the sponsor application within 60 days. I have a few questions if you can help me please:

1. My parents are divorced, in the interest to sponsor form I think that I have entered my mother, father with his wife and daughter who is my step-sister (4 people in total). The thing is that I want to make sure I have entered all the name in the interest to sponsor form because I have done it very quickly and might forgot to enter my father or mother's name. In the case I forgot to enter my mother's name in the interest to sponsor form, can I still add her name in the application to sponsor my parents?

2. After doing my research, I do not have enough revenues to sponsor 4 people (mother, father, father's wife and step-sister). I will probably only sponsor my father and mother but I have entered 4 names in the interest to sponsor form. Am I allowed to remove 2 of the 4 names and only sponsor my father and mother? Or I have the obligation to enter the 4 names? Because it is written in the form the Government sent me: The information submitted in your sponsorship application must match the information provided in your interest to sponsor form, including a copy of the exact status in Canada document you submitted.

Thank you in advance for your help!

You do not have enough income. You will be rejected.

On the form there is a section that specifically tells you to make sure you meet the income requirements for the PGP and the number of family members you are sponsoring before submitting the ITA.

Why didn't you do your research on income requirements BEFORE you submitted the ITA to take part in the lottery?

You have now wasted a spot that someone who does qualify could have taken.

1. I don't think you can add names to the form. It was important to fill this information in carefully.

2. No. You father's wife and step-sister (if under 22 years old and unmarried) are your father's dependents. You can't exclude them from the application if you are sponsoring your father and you must have enough LICO to cover them.

Thank you for your answers. I sent a request to the Goverment to see if I can still have access to the information I have provided in my interest to sponsor form.

Since my parents are divorced, Government is saying: If your parents are divorced and you are sponsoring both parents, please submit separate applications for each parent.

Does it mean that it is possible that my mother is accepted alone since she is alone in her application? And will they take only revenues needed to sponsor 1 person? Or are both demands (for father and mother divorced) linked?

I have enough revenues to sponsor 4 people since 1 week, I just started a new job in 2021 and hope that they will take it into consideration (I am in Quebec and they only ask for last year income, not 2018, 2019). In 2020 I had enough to sponsor 3 people.

They will not consider your 2021 income. Only your 2020 income. Refusal is automatic if you don't meet LICO for 2020.

Also note that if you want to sponsor 4 people, you need to meet LICO for 5 people. You must include yourself in the calculation. I am assuming that you are single and have no spouse / common law partner or children.

Ah....Quebec. Sorry you didn't mention you were in Quebec in your original post. Quebec is almost like a total different country!

All the best!

Yes I am single with no spouse/common law partner or children.

Since my parents are divorced and I need to submit 2 applications (one for my mother and one for my father), is it possible that they accept my mother's application because I have enough for 1 person? and refuse my father's application since I do not have enough for 4? Or they will just refuse the 4 of them?

Wow. I didn't realize the income requirements for Quebec are so low!

You should just submit for your mother.

When you do have >$52,482 then you can submit another ITA to try to sponsor your father and his family.

Yes, salaries are lower here too though...

Am I allowed to submit another application for my father next year for example? Or do I need to submit the interest to sponsor form again and see if I am taken in the lottery again?

Thank you for your help, it is appreciated!

Taxes are also extremely high in Quebec. Wonder where all the tax money and the Federal Equalization payments go to?

You will need to submit ITA again and take part in lottery again.

Thos doesn’t apply to PGP. Follow the LICO amount stated in the PGP application.

Did you apply to sponsor your mother or your father? They are separate families who would require separate applications. It is still unclear for me whether one EOI selection would allow you to apply for 2 family groups. Can anyone clarify for me?
