Question on Travel when awaiting Citizenship ceremony / Canadian passport

Hi All,

This is a preemptive question.

my Wife and I applied January 2021 - Passed Citizenship test Feb 2022 - Awaiting on all other other categories to be changed to completed before being called for citizenship ceremony.

In March 2022 my 'Background Verification' was changes from 'Complete' back to 'In-Progress'. The fingerprint office said likely the fingerprints expired as it was over a year. When that happened I had to re-do fingerprints which I did immediately after getting the email.

We are travelling to the US in October 2022 and home to Ireland in December 2022. With the current backlog in getting Canadian passports (5 weeks currently) and with the Unknown date of being called for Citizenship Ceremony it is making us anxious and we want to know our options early before it becomes a problem.

1) If we are called for the Citizenship Ceremony, but DO NOT have Canadian passports before we fly in October, is it possible to travel to US and re-enter Canada on an Irish Passport? (PR card will be voided at ceremony)

2) If we are called for the Citizenship ceremony after say August, would it be better to postpone the ceremony until January 2023? (is it even possible to postpone that far out?)

3) is there such thing as an 'emergency passport' in Canada where you pay more and get passport sooner? (this option exists in Ireland and might help us if timeline is tight)

Thanks all!!
