Does the canadian embassy calls the bank for the confirmation of the bank certificates? When did they do the checking? Is it right after the embassy in your country received the applucation form, or they do it randomly even after your medicals?

Visa office do make phone calls to banks to verify the funds. It can be done anytime from the submission of documents to issuance of visa. It can take place even after medicals. It is important so in each case it is called and no ramdom selection etc etc. My suggestion is to keep the funds upto the issuance of visa.
