Hi All!

My wife (Canada) and I (UK) recently got married, and are now starting the immigration process. However, we are coming across a few bits that are complicated and we are not sure how to proceed. If anyone could help us out, that'd be fantastic! I'll list the bits we are confused with below.

IMM3901E - The form talks about having 8 photos to be submitted for me and each of my family members. Does this mean that CIC want 8 photos of my mum, dad, and my two sisters as well as of me?

IMM0008 - The form asks for your education and how many years you have completed, however I am currently entering the final year of my degree, so would I put 2 years (The amount I have completed) or 3 years? (The amount I will have completed by the time I move.)

IMM5490E - The form asks if we have lived together. Technically we have, as I have visited my wife for long periods of time (3+ months at once) and she has visited me for a month or so at a time. However, I don't know if this would be classed as visiting each other or living together.

IMM5669E - This forms asks for a list of addresses of where I have lived. Again, do I write down my wife's address as I have stayed their for long periods of time, or does that not count as living? The same with my university accommodation, do I write that down as I do live there, but I always have my mailing address as my parents place?

IMM5406E - Both me and my wife have to fill out a copy of this "additional family form." When my Wife fills out this form, I am lead to believe that she would write my name in as the applicant and as her spouse? In that case, her name wouldn't appear on the form at all.

Also, I read on the CIC website that any scanned documents need to be signed by an official. Does this include the scan of the photo page on my passport? My passport also expires in February, so do I need my passport to be renewed before I apply or can I apply and then renew my passport?

Thanks for any help you guys give. I'm really worried about us cocking this up, but we can't really afford an immigration lawyer. Cheers!

No. This is only for members of your family (like dependent children) whom you are including on your application.

IMM0008 - The form asks for your education and how many years you have completed, however I am currently entering the final year of my degree, so would I put 2 years (The amount I have completed) or 3 years? (The amount I will have completed by the time I move.)
I would enter how many you have completed at the time of sending in your application, and attach a letter (with your name, the form's name and the question number and add that you have one more year left.

IMM5490E - The form asks if we have lived together. Technically we have, as I have visited my wife for long periods of time (3+ months at once) and she has visited me for a month or so at a time. However, I don't know if this would be classed as visiting each other or living together.
This is open to interpretation, what type of visa were you/your spouse on while you were visiting? I would include the time spent, even if it is 3 months.

IMM5669E - This forms asks for a list of addresses of where I have lived. Again, do I write down my wife's address as I have stayed their for long periods of time, or does that not count as living? The same with my university accommodation, do I write that down as I do live there, but I always have my mailing address as my parents place?
Just be honest and include your spouse's address, university accommodation, etc. A good tip I read on this forum is to append a page for form 5669 and include all your travels (any trips excluding your country of origin and country of residence).

IMM5406E - Both me and my wife have to fill out a copy of this "additional family form." When my Wife fills out this form, I am lead to believe that she would write my name in as the applicant and as her spouse? In that case, her name wouldn't appear on the form at all.
Your spouse does not need to fill out a copy of this form. You would fill in the form and enter your wife's details in the Spouse boxes in Section A.

Also, I read on the CIC website that any scanned documents need to be signed by an official. Does this include the scan of the photo page on my passport? My passport also expires in February, so do I need my passport to be renewed before I apply or can I apply and then renew my passport?
I was not aware of this? I have scanned a lot of documents without having them signed. Regarding your passport I would apply before and include the new passport details in the application.

Andrew-Brit, you sir are a saint! Thanks so much.

Wise call on the adding additional pages, I was just kind of hesitant to do that as I wouldn't want to have them reject the information as its not on the form.

For the visiting I was just on the UK entry stamp, no special visa or anything. I just flew in and got a stamp. I'll start the process of getting a new passport then as soon as I can then!

Thanks so much again for your help!

the application clearly states if you need extra room, to use additional paper. your application will not be rejected if you write "see additional pages". it's best to make sure the form number/name, applicant name and question number is clearly written on the extra paper.
