Question on marital status

Guys,

When I applied for the PR and got accepted, I listed my marital status as divorced.
However, this is not official yet. We have been separated for 3 months now and all the paperwork has been already filed with the court system. Only the final step of final hearing and court decision are pending which should be done by end of September. I will not have the divorce certificate until then.

Can I write the above into my LOE? Any other suggestions?

I believe you should have mentioned it as "Legally Separated" which makes more sense in legal terms because you are not officially divorced as such.

Try and clarify it in the LOE.

Thanks - I was able to change it to legally separated. However, how do I answer the following question:
How did this relationship end?
Options listed are annulment, divorce, death of partner and end of common law relationship.

Divorce is the closest. But what do I submit under divorce certificate?

Edit: I changed my status to legally separated as advised and selected divorce as the reason for end of the relationship. CIC does NOT ask for marriage certificate or divorce certificate proof in the documents upload page.
