Please help someone. I have literally received my COPR today, good news!

I am actually going to Canada on holiday (booked ages ago) in a couple of weeks. Is it absolutely imperative that I complete the customs declaration this time if I land as a PR.

We're not planning on relocating straight away and really don't know what we're going to take and what we won't.

Anyone been in a similar situation or have advice on what I can do?

So what is it? You go as a visitor or you land?
Yes that's the question I am seeking advice on.

If you don't land, you will be a visitor. All you do is go there and enjoy your vacation. If you need a visa to visit, get that sorted first.

Thanks for the response, it's a bit more tricky than that. My COPR expires in March and after the trip in September I'm not planning on going back so really need to 'land' this time.

The problem is I need to declare to CBSA my goods I'm travelling with and what I'll be taking later. However, at this stage I don't 100% know what I'll be taking with me when I travel at a later stage.

Ahhhhh....I see ;D

When we came here years ago, we only took 2 suitcases with us, rented furnished and had everything shipped later. No one wanted to see the list during the landing process, only when the container arrived a couple of months later when we needed to release it from customs. And even then the customs officer was quite laid back and stamped all documents without a lot of questions..

It may have changed by now..

My understanding is they've become a lot more tricky. My other option is that I 'land' this time and declare a small amount. When we actually relocate, my wife as a returning Canadian citizen can claim all goods and possessions are here thus avoiding the need for me to declare this time. The only problem is that I don't know if this will work and would like to speak with someone who can tell me officially.
