Hi Guys,

I am new here my friends referred me to this forum which is has an amazing source for information. I had a question in regards to my citizenship application , I have already qualified to apply as on Dec 1st, while I was waiting I was getting all my documents ready and noticed that my Record of Landing (IMM 1000), or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688) were both lost. I have already reading up on other topics on the forum around end of July applied for the VoS (Verification of Status) document. My question is should I go ahead and apply with just a letter as it says in the application explaining it was lost and I applied for a VoS? I have seen some people on other forum topics mention they took this route. Did anyone have their application returned to them for not providing the document? Technically Jan 28th 2015 will be six months, has anyone else applied for a VoS? do they mail it on the exact 6 month period or has it arrived earlier for others?

Samreen, A friend of mine applied in September 2013 WITHOUT the COPR because she has lost it. We included a letter that we have applied for one and at the same time, Sept 2013 applied for VOS. VOS was EMAILED to her in Feb 2014. My recommendation would be: Wait until Jan 28 and you will have it, to patch that hole. It is worth a wait. Check your Spam folder for the VOS. Jan 28 is not too far off either...

Good luck,

Save yourself the grief of hassle. Wait until you get new proof of record of landing and use it to apply for citizenship.

Samreen, I forgot to mention that her application was never returned as incomplete. It went into processing as of Jan 10, 2014...
