Question on Canada Visa Expiration

Hi,

My wife and I are Indian citizens and living in the US for last 4.5 years. I'm getting transferred to our Canada office to work for a Canadian assignment. I have applied for Canadian 1 year work permit visa for myself and 'non-work' type visa for my wife so that we can be together for the entire duration I work there. We had applied for our visas together(mailed to the Canadian consulate in the same envelope). Yesterday, we have received my wife's passport with Canadian V1-Visitor visa stamped with an expiration date only 3 months from now. I have not received my visa yet. I'm quite confused and trying to understand following. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Does this necessarily mean that my visa(primary applicant) would also be valid for 3 months only instead of 1 years?

Is the validity of a visa the same as the authorized period of stay? Or the visa validity only indicates the time period when entry is permitted into Canada.

Has Canadian visa period got anything to do with when individual's US visa is expiring ? I'm asking this because our US visa expires on the same date my wife's Canadian visa will expire !

Regards,
Ari

No, it means her TRV has to be used within 3 months. You should be getting a TRV and a letter of introduction, so you can enter and get your work permit on entry.
