Question on applying for my mother-in-law

My mother-in-law is currently in Canada visiting. She would like to apply for immigration status while she is here. I would like to know if the application process is the same as if she was applying from her home country? And is the application time the same whether she is applying from Canada or her home country?

Your spouse (PR or citizen) can sponsor her/his mother. You cannot. You can co-sign the sponsor agreement.

Sorry, wrong wording. Yes, I am co-sponsoring my mother-in-law but I am asking on behalf of my wife if there are any differences in application procedures while my mother-in-law is here in Canada.

I don't know much about inland applications. Generally, inland application takes longer time than outland but there are exceptions. maybe you can find your answers after reading the "INLANDERS!" thread. Hope this helps.

It takes almost 4 years to sponsor parents and while she is here as a visitor they are not likely to give her that many extensions to let her stay,but they have done crazier things.And if you do an inland and at anytime during that 4 years she had to leave and then could not get back in the application is null and void.
So on a parents sponsorship you must be carefull how you do it.You can still apply outland while she is here on her visit,but it is still unlikely they will give her 4 years of extensions.
