Hello,

I'm applying to PR through common law.
Question 8 asks when I entered my common law relationship.
Should I add the date we moved in(21april2011)? Or a year later(21april2012)?

Thanks a lot! Much appreciated! :D

They need the date that you began the relation,
that will be 21 April 2011.... You can add extra information in separate paper
about the circumstances when you decided to move together
Just make sure that you make reference to question number in the separate paper
at the end of the form, and also write your name and date of birth in the separate paper.

Thanks a lot!
Their site is very confusing and contradictory.
Below what the government site's says. We started the relationship in April2010, moved in together Apr2011, yet we signed an Statutory declaration of common law with a lawyer two days ago. By "officialy changed from being single to common law" would they mean when I filled up the statutory declaration? I wonder......

Question 8
Enter the date (year, month, day) you were married or you entered into your current common-law relationship.

Note: This is the date your status officially changed from being single to common-law, not the date you started living together.

Thanks!!

No, your status changed from single to common-law when reached 1 year of living together.

The declaration does nothing to your status. You can be common-law and never sign a statutory declaration.
