Hello everyone, I have an inquiry regarding the process for my immigration to Canada with my partner who is a citizen. We want to use IEC's Working Holiday one year for me to live with him just enough time for the 12-month requirement for Common-Law Partner, but I'm unsure of how to do things inbetween.

Should we submit the application for both my sponsorship and my SOWP, the very last day of the 12-months? I understand the recommended timeframe for applications should be 30 days before the due date, but applying to extend my stay for a visitor record might make things more difficult if the AOR doesn't arrive soon to apply for the SOWP, so I'd rather straight up apply for SOWP, since I can directly apply since I submitted a sponsorship application and my stay is due in less than 2 weeks.

I'd like to know if I'd be safe to confirm the exact 12-month cohabitation by submitting the application the last day without risking any troubles and without waiting too long for something like the AOR. Thank you!

You don't, I think, need the aor for the visitor extension. Indeed I'd suggest waiting at least a few days more (yes, people have been turned down for calculation errors of one day).

And if you're this worried, consider just getting married, you can apply well before.

Don't submit the application until you have actually completed the full 12 months of cohabitation. If you submit even a day early, you won't be common law yet and can expect a refusal. Submitting on the last day of the 12 months is definitely not the way to go. Submit early in the 13th month.
