question for Multiple Entry Visa

My parents got 2yrs Multiple Entry Visa. They got 180days of expiry date when they landed in Canada in March. My question is: do they have to leave Canada after 180days to another country and re-land Canada? Do we have a way to not leave Canada but get another 180days from the border in September.
