My friend returned after a citizenship interview a few days ago and she is really confused by one of the questions.
How would you understand the following question during a citizenship interview "Did you have any issues with immigration or customs ?". Do they refer to removal orders, revocation of permanent residence status and customs offences ? Or is it a more general question. If you were denied entry to Japan 15 years ago, does it count as "an issue with immigration" ?

It could be general, but I'd have asked the officer to clarify. That's what I did when I was asked an ambiguous question.

I'd say it is a general question which they usually ask during the interview. I don't consider an entry denial (Japan) as an issue with immigration! This is just my thought.
