Question about TRV

Hello everyone,

I recently applied for an extension for my study permit, work permit, and my TRV online as one application not separately. After a few weeks, I received the documents except for the TRV. The problem is that I am planning to go back home for a vacation and I need to have a valid TRV to be able to re-enter Canada. Can anyone help please ?

Hi,

If you have received your new study permit then you can leave Canada and apply for TRV from you country. Or even better apply for the new TRV before you go on vacation and ask the visa officer to email the TRV to the country where you would going, go to the embassy or consulate and have them print for you. I have seen done with one of my friends who left to KSA and had his TRV transfer to local office. However, I would first call CIC and confirm with them.

True, but why didn't they asked me to send them my passport when I applied for it ? and how long does it take if applied for a new one inside Canada?

You would be better off if you call CIC directly and ask why haven't you received TRV or asked to submit your passport

You can apply for trv if you have valid study permit or work permit

As a rule, OP is supposed to have a valid work/study permit in hand before putting off application for a TRV. You won't get TRV if you are sending application along with SP application.
