HI there,

My in-laws are just applying to visit us in Canada. My mother in law had applied in 2012, but she was rejected and we never attempted to apply again. My father in law applied in 2014, and his got approved within a week. My FIL didn't submit any of the required documentation, just plain application and he was granted visa. Yesterday, both MIL and FIL submitted a joint application in Pakistan along with a invitation letter from husband. I am wondering what are their chances of approval.

thanks for the help.

Hi,

1. Why was your mother-in-law rejected in 2012?

2. Do they have strong travel history?

3. How long did your father-in-law visit the previous time?

If they did not include any documentation: Bank statements, ties to Pakistan, not addressed the previous refusal reasons for your MIL, etc then they are risking TRV refusals (at least your MIL)

Cheers

Thanks Bryyana,

My MIL has no travel history and that's why she was rejected teh first time. this hasn't changed since then.

they were hoping b/c my FIL was granted visa last time, and sending in their application together would lead to both of their approval. My FIL stayed for 2 1/2 months. He was issued multiple entry visa.

do they still issue multiple entry visa..or is just one time entry now???

Hi
did they apply online ?
And surprised you FIL got TRV only in one week .
Hopefully they would get it .

Each applicant must prove his/her individual ability to afford the visit + strong reasons to return to his/her home country. A joint application will not help another applicant even if s/he is related to the applicant who was approved earlier.

The first time maybe it was pure luck. I believe it's a huge risk to submit an application without supporting evidence and explanations.

You can either withdraw their applications ASAP and resubmit with all evidence/explanations, if you want to reduce the risk.

All applications are automatically considered for multiple-entry. However, the decision to issue SEVs/MEVs is with the visa officer + this would depend on some factors
