hey guys, I just heard today that if you with a canadian citizenship, you don't have to live in Canada for three years, you can go whatever you want. is that true? my boyfriend is canadian citizenship, and we are planning to travel as soon as I get my PR. If thats true, will be a great news. sicking tired waiting :(

You do in fact need to live in Canada for three out of the last four years to qualify for citizenship.

The rule you are thinking of applies to the residency obligation for PR only. To maintain your PR status, you must live in Canada for two out of every five years. However if you are outside of Canada with your Canadian citizenship spouse, those days outside of Canada count towards this residency total.

I think boyfriend and spouse are different, or I could be wrong. I have a friend who stayed in US for a few years and kept his PR status because his wife (also PR) was in Canada.
