My wife received a letter of invitation from my childhood friend inviting my wife my son and I to visit Toronto. My wife Ecuadorian citizen is the only person who needs this letter and visitor visa since my son and myself are both Canadian Citizens.
The letter mentions that we will be staying at his home and that he will show us around Toronto and Niagara Falls for the month in which we plan on visiting.

My question: Can I add to my Itinerary and explanation letter that we will be visiting my grandmother and cousin for a few days in Montreal who so desires to see my my wife and son even tho it is not mentioned in my friend's invitation letter?

The only letter of invitation sent was by him. I know once in Canada we are free to visit where and who we like in any city but I am wondering if it should be mentioned to the immigration officer in charge?

Thank you in advance :)
