Hi There, I am a single 59 year old applicant for Canadian Citizenship. My question is, aWe receccording to the application guideline, the ones between 18 to 54 years old are supposed to write Citizenship Test. So I am exempted from that. However, when I check my online status it says, ived your application on May 23, We sent you Acknowlegment and citizenship book on July 25, and we started processing your application on Aug 9, your application has been sent to the local office for further processing. There is also wrtten the ones between 18 and 64 will have to write citizenship test. So my concern is, is this a typo or has the age of writing citizenship test been changed?I never received citizenship book hard copy, just an online pdf is attached with my ecase. I highly appreciate any prompt response!!!

Please see the reply below (source CIC.GC.CA)

Who has to take the citizenship test?
Everyone between the ages of 18 and 54 at the time they apply for citizenship must take the citizenship test. We use the test to determine if you have adequate knowledge of Canada and the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship.

If you are 55 or older when you apply, you do not have to take the test. If you turn 55 during the processing of your application, you still have to take the test since you were under 55 when you signed your application.

You will not have to take the test or prove language ability. It's a generic and incorrect eCAS notification. Don't worry about it.

As others have correctly opined, relax - it is a generic script. Applicants above 55 are not required to take the test or demonstrate their language ability.

Dispatch of the hard copy has been dispensed with since 2001. However, the e-CAS script seems to never have been updated.
