Question about surname vs initial in some documents

In south India it is customary to use first letter of father's name as initial. For eg: instead of John Smith your name will be John S. or S. John. But in my passport and all subsequent documents only my full surname is mentioned.

The only problem is my work experience letter from India uses the the initial instead of the full surname. The issue is in the question about has this person ever used another name I have answered No. And it is true, it's just the same name written differently.

I have seen others with similar situation but some of them have answered yes to the question and provided one and the same person affidavit. But since I have answered No, should I still give affidavit? (That seems weird and conflicting). Is this a problem?

I don't have this issue with education because Canadian education is the highest level of education for me and there, full surname was used. Please advise.
