So my partner and I got married on the 17th and have been in the process of putting together our sponsorship application. I am here, in canada, as a visitor until the 1st of September. We were hoping to get married earlier but we had a few family emergencies that pushed back our wedding and now I am finding myself with very little time to send in papers. I was going to also going to extend my stay here and turn in OWP papers because we are doing an inland application.
My question is, since I was never given papers saying I had to leave Canada on a certain date and that when I flew in and went through customs, on their paperwork they had asked how long I planned on staying, should I go ahead and go onto cic and apply to extend my stay as a visitor even though in a week or so, I will be sending in my sponsorship papers. Or, should I go ahead and apply for the OWP and state that I am in the process of sending in my sponsorship papers? Any advice would be wonderful.
