Hey guys.
So I was wondering, some of you guys have mentioned if you are doing common law you don't need to show chat logs. Well, I met my S/O online, wouldn't I need to submit chat logs prior to coming here? Or no?

Also i have question for proof... our stuff is all scattered and different date, for example, joint bank open May 2017, we had his mother sign a lease form for us (free) dated Jan 2017. i arrived JUNE 2016.
We have filed taxes as common law so that is ok, and I have an insurance cause I have no OHIP and he is my beneficiary. As for him he can get life insurance, and we have renter insurance with both our names from MARCH 2018. A lot of documents are scattered dates, we didn't think to get everything all at once. (also have licenses with same address since June 2017 as i only got my g1 in june.) he has no vehicle so no car insurance, and that will be explained. im not quite sure what other proofs would be good...

We are thinking about getting him (canadian) life insurance and naming me beneficiary too. will that help? i was trying to get one too, but it looks like (obviously) life insurance is only for Canadian residents, and im only on a work permit. i hope this is true. otherwise i would get life insurance too.
i am thinking of applying for OHIP as my work permit seems to allow to do so, so i will do that soon too.

somebody please answer! :( I'm very anxious as to whether or not i will have enough proofs when i apply, which will be in Jan 2019.

I wouldn't worry about the life insurance.

As for stuff scattered around with different date, well that's life isn't it - things rarely happen in a nice neat bundle and would probably look suspicious if they did!

Sounds like you have enough - yes, include chat logs. Just tell your story and include your proofs, they sound fine.

Signed letters from friends and family confirming your relationship etc would be good too.

Why are you waiting 6 months to apply if you are already common-law?

Chat logs are only required when not living together, so leave them out. And it doesn't look like you need to bother with the life insurance.

You don't need everything to start on the exact same day. You just need a selection of proofs covering at least one year.

I would like to sort out some financial stuff so we wont submit til jan :) even though i met him online and came in 2016 with full intention of leaving(had a return ticket for 2 weeks) i just couldn't bare to leave him and now we are here two years later. Should I include any other proofs? And I guess include letter explaining why but leave out our chat log? I really only have declaration date on cra (tax) and bank since may 2017 but ive been here since 2016. Only have a 'semi' legit lease( from his mother with free rent) as theres just some signatures on there (no "witness" or broker. Would that still be fine as a lease form?)

So far I have:
Separate phone bills to me and him showing same address with different carrier
My OWP insurance has him as beneficiary
His work has me as beneficiary
His mutual funds has me as beneficiary
Joint chequing and savings bank account with each other as authorized users for credit cards
Lease agreement starting from March from new landlord (that witness part is still left out,, don't know if it's important)
Renters insurance since March this year with both our names
And we will get life insurance for him only.
But all dates are QUITE far apart.earliest starting with his mother's lease, and the latest so far being the renter insurance in March 2018...

That's all I have I believe..
(maybe I'm just over stressed. .)

What do you mean by "financial stuff"? Is your partner is bankrupt or on welfare?

Your proofs sound fine.

Oh no as in we want to pay off both our student loans first which is about 5,000 and some other expenses totalling to 7000. We don't want to touch savings, so we'll apply in January when we are more financially stable. (as the application costs 1200 ish when including owp inland). No bankruptcy at all. I'm assuming his student loans don't affect this application?

No his student loans won't be an issue.

Keep in mind if you apply INLAND, you won't get the OWP until 3-4 months after you apply, and the entire PR app can take around 1 year. If whatever current status you had expires, you may face some time with no work permit and no OHIP.

Always better to get the app in as quick as possible. A big chunk of the fees is the RPRF ($490), which I believe you can defer paying until near the end of the process.

Hey Rob, thank you for that
My current wp expires in August 2019, so I was hoping Jan would give me enough time for extended owp at the very least.

Now, my partner and I barely use social media. So unlike many couples we don't have hundreds of photos and posts on Facebook or the like. What we only have is pictures with friends showing we're obviously couples (hugging and the like) an engagement photo with friends (we'd rather marry later on) and a graduation picture with his mother. Think that's fine? Essentially I don't have any family from my side(estranged) , and he has a single mother. (father is not in Canada and his parents are separated) I'm guessing as long as I explain the situation it should be fine?
I also wanted to ask about family. Now I'm estranged with my entire family. So I really don't know what to do with the form that requires information in regards to parents and siblings. Heck, I don't even know where my sister is anymore. I don't care that if I don't include them, they won't be able to be sponsored. Anyway to leave them out, or will I have to second guess? I know for sure they wouldn't be taking any background checks nor medicals, since I don't even talk to them. Some people told me I can leave them out but I can't sponsor them (fine with me ) but some have said I must include that info regardless. Is that true ?

Nothing to explain about the pictures or social media.

You need to list ALL family members required on IMM5406. For anything you don't know, put "unknown" and explain on a separate sheet.
