Question about possibility of interview

Greetings, I've finally got my application all ready to send in. Took quite some time. I am applying as a spouse.

I was wondering what the likelyhood of an interview is. I'm mainly concerned because at the advice of the forum here I am applying as outland even though I spend most of my time in Canada and thus had to put a interview location from my current country (the US) and traveling to New York would be a pain.

My understanding from what many people have said here is that an interview is only usually done if they suspect you of faking a relationship right? Do people from the US get sent in for interviews often? Is there any last minute things I could add to my application (that aren't on the checklists) that might help avoid delays like this?

Just getting last minute jitters.

Thanks!

The chances of US applicants getting an interview is actually VERY slim.

That's relieving to hear. Thank you for the reply! My main concern is that I didn't really get together very much communication proof due to the fact that we're together quite often and when we're apart the conversations can get kinda... sexual (sorry for the TMI). And I'm not sending that kind of stuff in! We do have pics from a few vacations we took though and many family gatherings.

Mine was the same. I didn't include any skype stuff because of that exact reason! I just included a phone bill, a few posts on facebook/myspace and photos. Plus boarding passes for when he visited me. As long as you include as much as you can, you'll be fine :)

I know this is not my forum, but I guess I m looking for people experienced in this sponsorship... by meaning there doing it or in the proces of it.
Can they accept phone calling cards? Becuase I have my lawyer who has said shes done cases ... and used calling cards to prove that the husband and wife have kept in contact that way. But... while taking a taxi, a guy found out that I was trying to sponsor my husband. .... He then continued to tell me that theres no way they take calling cards as proof of some contact during the time I ve been in canada and my husbands been in egypt.
I m scared... other than the calling cards and emails we dont have much...
So...
Do they... I cant see why not.. I was told by my lawyer that they do accept them and that they track the card ?number of who you ve called... so.. do they :(
?????

Interviews are the exception, not the rule. It's probably like the 80/20 rule. 80% do not require an interview. It's only when the visa officer doubts the genuineness of the marriage will they call you for an interview. So, with that in mind, make sure you provide enough proof to satisfy even the most suspicious officer.

Some calling card companies can provide records of who you called. If only one of you was using calling cards, then get the phone records from the phone company of the other person. The physical cards themselves will only show that you had calling cards, not who you called. The CIC will not call customer service for your calling card provider and track these down for you.

But I thought, you could. I remember hearing someone on this forum, not this exact one.. used calling cards. .. to show proof... saying that CIC will track the numer... are you sure? Because we cant get his records.. I can show hes called me once or twie but I call him because its a lot more expensive for him...

If you can't track the number, how will the CIC be able to?

You can send the calling cards if you like, and I think it'll help a bit, but it's not going to be very strong proof by itself. If you can't get call records, make sure that the rest of your application is strong. The problem with sending the calling cards is that they just show that you called someone... not necessarily your SO.

I'm not sure Spritz but I dont think it matters if he has called you often. If you can get your records of calling him(just to show that you speak together often) then I would think that should be ok.

We are the same way. I usually only call my wife because I get twice the better rate for calling with my cards. $4 gets me 1 hr and her only 25 mins.

I keep worrying I will have to go for one cause I always get nervous in interviews. It is good to hear they aren't as common as I thought.

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but a related question, how common is it for the sponsor to be called for an interview? I am a Canadian Citizen by birth, my wife is in the Philippines. Just curious (personally I would rather a interview, than go through so many mind numbing forms, but that is just me :) )

usually only on inland applications does the spouse sometimes get called for an interview.....not to often on the outland as alot of times the sponsoring spouse is not there for the applicants interview......

I agree with you Dan.
I would rather prefered an interview from the begininng, not after a year of waitning, anxity, stress, trips, paers stuff, frustrations....etc.

But I think the denial of a visa its rather low.

And to answer of your question, I think its 20% of the files wich ends up with an interview.

Best of luck! Be prepared for parers stuff, stress, anxity, waiting...etc.

We have gotten good at the waiting part, wifey did a name change when she went back to the Phils, that resulted in a nearly 11 month delay, as they processed the name change, the marriage report and then changes of name for her and her sons passports. Yeah nearly a year lost because of a simple name change.

Oh well that part is over, now we are just getting our forms and paperwork together to start the process with CIC. Then it will be waiting part duex :p
