Hi ,

I just received my IELTS Score and i got L:9, R:8.5, W:7.5, S:8, and have started to create my EE profile. I had a quick question on the NOC Code to submit in the EE profile

I work as a Shopper Marketing Analyst where my job involves building Statistical & predictive models for retail clients in the US. I use tools like SAS, R, SQL, Python etc., and have a bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering) SO i was wondering if NOC Code, 2171 or 2161 applies to this situation. Also, my CRS is pretty low at 441, so i was wondering how i could potentially improve this?. How can i go about getting a sponsorship from a province?

Can someone please guide me through the process?. How easy/difficult would that be?

Thanks,

Hi satisfy,

I took a quick look at both descriptions and probably 2161 would be the right fit. You should, however, go through the list carefully and make sure you make the right choice. Try to factor in other duties you might have to find the correct one. Bear in mind that IRCC selects validates the NOC based on your duties on not your titles. Your bachelor's shouldn't play a role in this. My current job, for example, is a mixture of two NOCs. I decided to list the one with the largest weighting on my day to day. For that, I had to check the whole darn catalog :)

441 is really not low. What we are all expecting is a drop of the cutoffs this year. But the majority of candidates score 450 or less according the the report on IRCC website on Express Entry.

The safest way is to secure a nomination, but those are hard to come by as I see it. I was interested in Ontario, but they stopped issuing invitations. The other two provinces I was interested in require the the applicant have a job offer, so what we can do is maintain our current scores.

Stay hopeful!

Serge

NOC Code is independent of job designation. Your job duties should match up the job duties of a particular by minimum 60 to 70%
Once you find out such a NOC code, then it becomes your intended NOC Code for Canada Immigration.

You guys need to have some patience. OINP will resume sending PT NOI in May/June. Till then just be optimistic, be active on this forum and keep yourself updated.

While selecting the NOC, the duties and responsibilities mentioned in the NOC should be a close match with the actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you at the respective job. You need not match the duties and responsibilities word by word, but the idea is to have the closest match in terms of the spirit of the duties and responsibilities. Also, NOC should be selected on the basis of the match of actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you rather than the designation match in the NOC list.

The best and easiest way to improve CRS score is through IELTS, but you have a good IELTS score and retaking IELTS will not impact your CRS considerably. With Express Entry, there is no minimum CRS required to be eligible to enter the pool to apply for Canadian PR. But having said that to get direct a invite (ITA), you should have a CRS of at least 470 (the score for the latest invite). As per the trend, the score for direct ITA has never gone down below 450. But that should not deter you from going forward as you PNP.

Among PNPs, OINP is the best and with your score you are eligible for OINP as well. But lately, there has been a temporary hiatus in Ontario sending out PTs. It seems OINP is clearing the backlog which they have accumulated since November (as they had to process Syrian refugee applications). Post this, which I assume would be May 2016 onwards, they would start issuing PTs. My assumption is based on the fact that they have updated OINP settlement funds requirement here http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPNEW.html. The requirement refers to applications that will be submitted after May 6, 2016. For other PNPs you can check this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-who.asp.
