Question about name change

Hey everyone,

I am a PR, reside in BC, and have been eligible to apply for citizenship since 2 months ago.
Here's my situation:

My name on my PR card, landing document and old, expired Iranian passport which I used to first land in Canada as a PR is:
Abcdef AbKKcd

My name on my new Iranian passport and my university documents is:
Abcdef AbCKcd

My desired name that I want to appear on my citizenship document and Canadian passport is:
Def AbCKcd

So I want a shorter version of my first name with the correct CK spelling of my last name on my citizenship and Canadian passport.
Should I get a name change now? Should I worry about the different spellings of my last name on my PR and the two Iranian passports? Will I need a document that confirms both spellings of the last name are the same person (me)? If yes, how can I get such confirmation? Or should I not worry and just fill out the citizenship application and under the section 2B where it asks what name I wish to appear on my citizenship document write Def AbCKcd and check the truncation and minor spelling change boxes?

Sorry for the long post and the badly made up names. Thanks for your help.

You should check the truncation box only if your name was shortened on your PR Card.

In my opinion, the easiest (and least problematic) way to accomplish what you want is to apply for a legal name change through Vital Statistics, BC. This way you will have a document that links the name on your PR Card to your desired name and you can use that to update your provincial ID and apply for citizenship under the desired name.

Without a document that links your names together, you may run into complications with other agencies even if CIC approves the name change and issues a certificate in the new name. See this case where the spelling of the first name was slightly modified:
