okay so my wife just called to schedule a medical. we have not filed for anything yet, we just wanted to get the medical out of the way first until we get the money we needed to send in everything for sponsorship
the doctor told her they they just send it straight to the embassy?
doesnt she have to get it? because from what i heard is that they request it from us and WE send it in, not the doctor
im just confused now, please help!!!

You send in your copy, they send in a different copy. You still get a piece of paper (if outland, it's green) to send in with your application :)

Oh okay, but we haven't filed for anything yet, should he still send it into the embassy? I don't understand?
She will go get it, she will get a piece of paper, and she sends that in? Why does he send it into the embassy before its filed?

They send it to Ottawa. Ottawa then holds it until Buffalo (or whatever VO you are using) requests it.

When you go to the DMP, they will fill out a special form (IMM 1017 EFC) that has a unique serial number on it. They will affix a picture of you onto that form and stamp all over it with their cute little maple leaf and DMP number stamp. You will get the top copy. The doctor will send a copy of your medical to Ottawa. YOU send your copy with your application. Because it has the serial number on it, they can match it up in the Visa office after they start processing your file.

When your file gets to Ottawa, a medical officer in Ottawa will look it over within about 5-6 weeks (my medical for spousal sponsorship was reviewed and a letter indicating I was medically admissible in the exempt family class on March 11, 2012. The fact that I know this is rather unusual, but it should help with the timing information.)

Good luck!
