Question about Interview and Medical Exams

Hi everyone,

I have a question for you guys. From what I´ve been reading here, if your file is transfered to a local office BEFORE AIP it means that you´re going to attend a formal interview because they probably have doubts about the relationship.

Does it mean that, if you got AIP without this local office transfer, the interview will be waived?

One more doubt: anyone here had to re-do the medical exams? Whats the waiting time after you do it?

I think you can get a interview convocation just any time, I received it exactly after 11 months and a week since my file was received from Mississagua Office.

As for the medicals I don't know but I think you don't have to wait to long.

I am waiting for an extension, after my interview my VO made a request for an extension (if you don't pass 15 months since you did your medicals then you have the right of an extension if the main office in London decided it so)

I had to re-do my medicals because they were expired. The clinic sent he files to CIC on July 24th so I think I still have at least 2 months of waiting ahead.

As for the interview, I understand there are two types, right? One of them is just a formality, they ask you if you commited any crime and if you are under social assistance and thats all... the other one is more complicated because they wanna see more evidences that the relationship is true.

The first one is a landing interview, the second one will lead to a decision.

Am I right?

If I understand corectly you are an inland application.

I don't know nothing about inland applications, sorry.

But very soon your medicals will expire, so for sure VO will ask you to re do them.

I know that subject of an interviws are mainly to see if a realtionship its genuine or not and then about your travel history or a previous divorce.

The first interview that may be required is an interview to prove the validity of the relationship, which leads to first stage approval (when they make the decision to approve the sponsorship, which is called approval in principle, or AIP). From what I gather from posts on the forums, if you've received AIP without the first interview, the only interview you'll be required to attend is the landing interview.

I know it's pretty much exactly what you said, but it's sometimes confusing when people are talking about their timelines and they refer to decisions being made, because it can refer to either the first stage or the second one (which is when they are considered to be actually processing your permanent residency application). I wanted to clarify, just in case

Do you follow the inland application thread for 2011? I learned a lot from the participants on that thread (like what things you can apply for and what things you can't). Fortunately after receiving AIP you can apply for things like health care, open work permit, and in couple provinces you are eligible to pay resident tuition fees.

Yes, I follow the 2011 thread and I got a lot of relevant information there. I already got AIP + OWP and OHIP so now I'm just waiting for the 2nd stage to be finished.
