Good day,

I am currently in Canada with an International student permit. I just stop the current term because my boyfriend will going to sponsor me as his common law. Now, i am still confused about what application I should used. I am planning to applied in my home country Philippines, instead of inland application. Is this ok? And when should we do the medical exam.

Thank you

If you are applying through Manila, you would use the Outland application: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

You may be anywhere in the world when you apply via the Outland process. If an interview is required, you will need to fly to Manila.

You should follow the country-specific rules located on that page. Most countries require that you fill out "Appendix C" and take it to an immigration physical doctor ("DMP") and submit a copy of the receipt (IMM 1017) with your application. This is because spousal applications are generally processed very quickly.

Good luck!

If the DMP finds something seriously wrong with you she or he will advise you. Otherwise, you will know that you have "passed" the examination when your e-cas says "medical results have been received".

Spousal sponsorship may only be refused on two medical grounds: danger to public safety or danger to public health. Spouse/Partner class applicants are exempt from excessive demand considerations.

You are using the correct forms (Outside Canada). The question should be answered truthfully - if you are current IN Canada, the last time you entered would be the date when you flew, drove, walked, biked, or sailed into Canada last time you came to Canada.

No issue at all. Just make sure the doctor knows which VO is processing the file so they can send the medicals to the correct place (the appropriate regional medical centre).
