I am from India. I am intending to visit Canada on a tourist visa in December, but meanwhile am also planning to give IELTS some time before that (as I am planning to apply for Express Entry). The purpose for my visit in December is only to have a brief visit with family members. My question is, will giving IELTS have any negative effect on my chances of getting a tourist visa as it could be assumed that I have the intent to immigrate? Do the immigration authorities take this into consideration while making a decision?

No, for tourist Visa, officer will look at other things for example your itinerary, home country ties, past travel history but will not care if you gave/not/flunked IELTS
