Question about gathering documents listed on IMM3908e checklist

Hello, I am a Canadian citizen who will be sponsoring my spouse under the family class for permanent residency. We are currently gathering the documents needed in order to apply using the IMM3908e guide (we are living in Guatemala). On the document checklist it states that the applicant and each family member must provide: police record check, medical exam and photos.

My question is: Do my child and I need to complete these requirements as well even though we are Canadian citizens?

Also, number 10 on the checklist (children’s information) says that if the child is a Guatemalan resident (which he is) we need to provide a ‘notarized sworn declaration from the other parent authorizing the child to travel to Canada as a permanent resident’. We will all be traveling to Canada together, so do we still need this document?

Thank you

I can only answer the first part sorry . As long as your child has a Canadian passport or Canadian birth certificate or citizenship then neither of you have to have police checks or medicals. The only reason i am stating all those things is because sometimes people think if a child is born to a Canadian any where in the world, they automatically become citizen of Canada and dont need any paper work done.
