Hi, I am applying under CEC for PR in Canada.

I did an IME back in 2018 (<5 years), and I am not sure if I still need to do a new IME for PR application.

IRCC mentioned that up until Oct 6, 2024,
If you completed an IME within 5 years of submitting your new application, include the IME number (or the unique medical identifier number) from your previous exam in your current application.
You may be exempt from completing another IME if you meet all of these conditions:
  • You applied, or are applying, for either permanent residence or temporary residence.
  • You already live in Canada.
  • You completed your previous IME in the last 5 years.
  • Your previous IME indicated a low risk or no risk to public health or public safety.

In my understanding, I do not need to get a new IME, as long as I submit a letter of explanation plus the previous medical information sheet. However, I heard some people were still requested to do new IMEs even though they had submitted their old results.

Does anyone have experience on this matter? Any suggestions or comments? Much appreciated.

I think you should submit a more recent IME which expires at a later time.
I have decided to submit my old IME.

I applied in November 2022. I submitted Medicals that didn't expire until Feb 2023 - originally got marked off as passed.

I got a letter on May 17th 2023 stating that I need to re-do my medicals again, even though I met all those criteria. I guess it's up to whoever is assessing the medical at the time.
