Hi Guys,

I am planning to get my ECA done from WES and had a question about the number of degree's that needs to be assessed. I have a MBA (Finance) and I will be applying on that basis coz I get more points obviously, so is it enough if i only do ECA for my MBA degree or even my bachelor's have to be assessed for the EE program?

-A

you will need to get it done for both of your degrees (bachelors and masters)
Masters alone will not work.

If you're sure that your MBA will be assessed as equivalent to a Canadian Masters degree, you don't need to get your Bachelors degree assessed by WES. Check the provisional assessment section on WES site before deciding on this.

I checked the WES website and it says that if i am submitted by MBA degree then they need my bachelors to complete the assessment as well, so looks like I have to send them my bachelors degree as well from the university!

Hi,

I checked the WES site and apparently an MA from JNU (New Delhi) is equivalent to a 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Canada. My wife has a BA and an MA from JNU. So while calculating CRS points, will she get the points for "Two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees. One must be for a program for Three years or more." or will she get points only for "Bachelor's Degree (three or more year program at university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute)"?
Basically, will she get points for two bachelors' degrees or just one?

Thanks

Just 1 degree. WES assesses BA/MA combinations as equivalent to a single 4 year Canadian Bachelors degree.

So are there no extra points for the MA degree?

I am quite sure 80% that WES will not assess academic degrees solely.

They only assess academics degree when your primary degree is a professional certificate e.g. ACCA and OBU Degree.

You should go for other body i guess Toronto University.

So will the overall assessment change based on the body I go with? Don't they have standard assessments across all bodies?

It is standardized. There was considerable discussion on this topic throughout 2015 - search some of the older threads and check with a member who was particularly interested in this topic ---> Sita1987.
