Hi all, I have a couple of questions on the COPR.

1. I received an email on the 12th August letting me know that my PR had basically been approved but I just need to send a copy of the email, two photos and a copy of my passport to then get the COPR.

My question is from people's experience how long did it take between sending out the documents and receiving the COPR in the post?

2. When arriving in Canada as PR how long does the process actually take on landing, is it the same as landed as a normal tourist i.e. minutes or can it take hours?

Thanks very much

1. This can vary greatly depending on a lot of factors. For my wife, it was one month for the Ottawa office. But again, everyone's case is different.
2. Landing is longer than a tourist since they will send you to secondary area to do the official landing. But even then, the actual landing should only take a few minutes. My wife's landing took anywhere from 5-10 minutes. The thing that took the longest was waiting in the various lines. If it is very crowded at the airport, you could be stuck waiting in line for awhile.

Great thanks Keesio

The plan is to actually land as a PR and then come back to where I'm from to then apply for roles before moving on a perm basis. We had a holiday booked to Canada for ages and I actually wasn't expecting the PR process to be so quick, I have been approved in 4 months, I was hoping to get the COPR fairly soon as we're flying in 2 weeks and it would be an ideal opportunity to 'land'. If not I'll have to fly back again.

How long did your COPR take once you sent off the documentation? I'm in the same boat as you, I can defer the dates of travel but at a cost that I would rather not pay.
